Thanks for posting a concise collection of valuable information for this beast. I live in USA Philadelphia, PA. I was wondering is there a trouble shooting guide for these, mine has a few quirks and would love to know where to take it for service. Thanks

Gracias Michael Fischer !!!! :-)

Thanks, for the kit, these are the sounds of old, that are used in Dirty South music, seems they always have kept the 808 sounds and now it's being used again. Again thank you

I got one(serial no 104106) when they came out, along whith a 303, SH101, and a tape sync box(MPC?- its old midi), which can all be connected up together. And it was all recorded on a Teac144 multitrack cassete, which was the weakest link in the chain. Electronic gear after that went crazy for a time, just not worth it. When I got a computer, I was able to take the 808 and others out of cold storage?, and realy make use of them. The 808 is far better than the 909. To realy make the most of the 808 you should tune the base drum down a little bit.

It's beautiful the tr 808, but I always prefer playing my drum. I can't make all the sounds, I can't make impossible patterns, but I can Play, withe the capital letter...Nothing against drum-machines, but it's much better play a real instrument...bye bye...(sorry for my eglish)

Thought you might be amused to learn that the TR-808 is the artwork on the cover and on the tray liner of each disc in this 3-CD set from the UK:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CSTK0G/002-6512229-7636835?v=glance
Clearly, the producers feel this machine represents the era.

Waaasaaap! Belgium in da house. I discovered a TR-808 in an old building. He was looking quit nasty... I tested him once but the poor thing was dead... Some strange noises did came out. Today (half year later) he's doing fine after half a day work and cleaning the inside, fixing some connections and pot meters, He's ALIVE! Another old devil waking up and soon pumpin' on stage. Thanks for the manual! Big up!
